The Pleasance - CRIME OF PASSION - JEROME PRADON. Formerly a cast member of Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down The Wind and portraying Judas in the recent Jesus Christ Superstar film, the enigmatic Jerome Pradon gets back to his roots and is accompanied in this entertaining show only by Oliver Probst on piano. But it is a beautiful marriage of an atmospheric use of the instrument - Probst evidently knows that simplicity is sometimes the most impressive - and Pradon's meticulous melodies. Although only 12 songs and a monologue, Crime of Passion is a long showcase of the duo's talents that explores one man's fascination with love and pain. It is a hugely intriguing topic and Pradon draws you in with his emotional commitment to the words that becomes more involving as the show develops. His character relays a strong case for pain being so close to pleasure. The concept and performances are terrific. |
